Start with the component—not the industry label
An aerospace-related PMI foam enquiry may concern a panel, fairing-like shell, internal sandwich detail or UAV-adjacent structure. Each begins with a different geometry, laminate system, interface and documentation requirement. The application name alone cannot establish material qualification, certification or a released manufacturing route, so the component drawing and programme requirements are the correct starting point.
Use core geometry to connect material and manufacture
Contoured surfaces, local reliefs, holes, transitions and mating edges can make core preparation as important as material form. A CAD review clarifies whether the project points toward a sheet, block, formed core or CNC-prepared component. It also identifies which surfaces are controlled and how the core will move into laminate, mould or assembly operations.
