Assign a role to every part of the sandwich
The face sheets, core, bond or resin interfaces, edges and attachments work together in a finished sandwich component. PMI foam is evaluated as the core element within that system. Its form, thickness and grade data should be reviewed with the real load case, geometry and manufacturing route rather than treated as a self-contained structural answer.
Use interfaces and transitions to guide the core brief
Edges, inserts, joints, holes, channels and local contour changes often determine whether a core starts as a sheet, block, machined form or another preparation path. CAD should identify these features and make clear which surfaces or dimensions govern fit, inspection and composite manufacture.
Validate after the project criteria are defined
Technical values, processing conditions and construction decisions should be checked against the applicable grade TDS and project requirements. A web article can organize the questions but cannot substitute for design authority, programme validation or controlled acceptance criteria.
