Read PMI foam as part of a sandwich construction
A PMI foam core sits between face sheets and becomes part of the component’s geometry, separation and manufacturing logic. The core does not determine the full structural response by itself: skins, adhesive or resin interfaces, thickness, contour, load case and manufacturing route all belong to the design question. A material search is therefore most useful when it starts with the real panel, shell or shaped component.
Separate the material family from the selected grade
PMI is a material-family description, while a grade TDS defines the density direction, test values, dimensions and conditions relevant to a particular product. The supplied Chinese TDS identifies XK, CK and CX families, but a family label should not be promoted into a universal guarantee. Confirm the proposed grade and its current document against the actual part before release.
Turn the definition into a useful RFQ
A practical enquiry states the component, core form, thickness, drawing or CAD, laminate or process context, temperature question and any required data. This connects a basic material definition to the decisions that affect a real supply and machining review.
