Start with the engineering decision
Define the component and its role in the larger structure, then identify the known core thickness, material direction, loading questions and documentation needs. Density or application name alone is insufficient. The selected grade and technical values must be confirmed against the real component and project requirements.
Translate the component into a controlled core brief
An engineering brief should state whether the part is planar, tapered, curved, patterned or built around local interfaces. CAD can show contour, transitions and features that influence whether a sheet, block, machined form or another preparation route should be considered.
Connect the material question to the process route
Describe the planned laminate route, tooling, temperature context, machining or forming steps and expected handling. A team can then distinguish information that is already defined from information that requires grade-specific TDS review or component validation.
Keep technical evidence within its stated boundary
Keep the article and RFQ honest about evidence. A sector label does not establish fatigue, service life, certification, environmental resistance or a process window. Those questions should be listed as requirements and resolved through applicable documents and project-level test or qualification plans.
