Start with the finished core, not a generic carton. Identify the drawing-controlled geometry, exposed edges, local features, visible surfaces, handling points and the next operation. These details clarify whether protective separators, orientation, identification or other project-defined measures need discussion.

Thin sections, curved forms, pockets, drilled patterns, delicate edges and interface faces create different protection questions. A packing request should explain which areas must remain undamaged or clean for the composite or assembly stage.
